OSHA To Target Nursing Homes

Some nursing homes may soon receive an unexpected visit from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. OSHA plans to conduct surprise inspections at nursing homes and other personal care facilities during the upcoming year, the agency recently disclosed.  These facilities are among some 4,000-plus high-hazard work sites that will receive unplanned inspections from the agency.  The agency will target those employers of 100 or more workers with high rates of missed days of work due to illness and injury. OSHA said it plans to inspect only those nursing homes that fall in the highest 50% of rated workplaces.
